we had to get rid of our tiger barbs because they were tearing fins off other fish in the tank, especially the swordtails. they were attacking the other fish. we left them to see if they would settle down but when they killed a guppy we had to take them back to the shop.

I got my Black Moor Goldfish a few months ago and I absoloutly love him (as do my cats, who watch him like most watch T.V.). I named him Othello which I thought was only fitting... He has alot of the gold metallic colouring and looks as though he was only glazed in black- very handsome. My friend has several goldfish which are HUGE, and I did not realize he would get that big too! Thanks for the info on your site, I am getting a much bigger tank and hopefully a bigger, happier fishy.

I have a new black moor. I didnt name him quite yet since I got him yesterday. He shares the tank with a gold and white fantail gooldfish and a regular calico goldfish. They always hang out in trios. My fantail nips and pushes at the side of my black moor trying to get him to go to the other side of the tank. The calico goes to the other side of the tank to try to show him its ok to go up there! It is VERY funny to watch! I only have one problem with my black moor. When ever i feed them, the fantail and calico eat but not my black moor. I think that he is just a "scaredy fish" because he wont even go into the neon rock i bought! They are ALL just funny to watch together!

I have had tanks from 20 - 40+ gallons and tall to long. Pearls are my favorite for sure. I have come across an aggessive male or two, but they are the exception not the rule. Likewise, I have seen some quite shy. Typically, they are great community fish and real beauties. Feed them some worms occasionally and watch their colors come to life.

I have one male platy. He lives with 3 mollies and many tetras in a 55 gallon fish tank. I love his bright orange colors. He is very active. He is one of the first fish that I ever had. I am going to get him a couple of females soon. They are a very hardy fishy and can live through just about anything. They really are a great beginner fish.

although beautiful and hardy...My suggestion for stocking levels is 1 fish per gallon of water. Also, these fish have the most amusing habit of rummaging around in the substrate, by working gravel in and out of their mouths searching for anything edible. These are hardy fish which can tolerate a lot, but please dont use that as an excuse to mistreat them.

I have kept common and comet goldfish for 18 months now. I have been very happy with them, they are hardy, grow quickly, and are interesting fish to observe. They will also grow very quickly if properly cared for, mine are 3-5 times larger than when I first bought them. The most important thing to remember when keeping this fish is the water quality, just keep the water quality high and the goldfish will do very well.
