I was able to find one of these at a lfs and was so happy I did they are so beautiful. Best anemone for a micro tank since they stay small and don't need a heater. It is very fast eater I have never seen an anemone's head move so fast from one side to the other to eat. The tentacles are very sticky and I don't think a clown could ever use one. I have a lot of small shrimp in my tank and the tentacles are so sticky that if their antenna even touch them he will quickly turn his head and the shrimp is doomed. Also they are so fast when you add some pods in the tank his little ten tentacle tips just pick them of one by one the coolest thing ever to watch. The colors are so intense it is beautiful. If you get a chance to get one do so and set up a species only 5 gallon tank with maybe a kenya tree or some paly's do not pass up the chance to own one of these guys. You can add one in a nano or large tank to just make sure the placement is right because if he goes on the move he will not just sting but eat any corals that stick to his superglue tentacles. A must have for the serious anemone enthusiast but a very rare one to find in certain parts of the world if you live in england you can probably just find one at the lagoons.

Do toad stools bleach. I have a real nice one losing his color. How do i correct it?

Most of the time color changes in corals are related to the tank lighting, rather than coral bleaching. Coral bleaching is where there is a mass expulsion of zooxanthellae. Most likely your coral has zooxanthalle but not enough lighting, so you are losing color.

Love the torch but haven't had good luck with mine -  it won't expand like in the lfs. When I bought it I've moved it a few times and nothing my water parameters are good all my other corals are doing good. Don't know what to do anymore need some help?

How much light do you have and have you tried feeding it directly with mysis or other filter feeding organisms?

I have had my purple with yellow flowers gorgonian like the one pictured for about 2 years. It is in excellent condition and has grown fantastic in halide lighting with a nice, moderate flow. It requires phytoplankton and a steady base. Most people sink these in the sand and they did. The base requires adheration to a rock, and preferably to the side, and it will do well in good lighting in a tank where phyto is fed.

"Its interior becomes blue due the coral's ability to extract iron from surrounding water into a blue salt that is deposited onto the skeleton."

Please in captivity where would this coral get iron from..?

Although iron is not a commonly added nutrient like calcium and iodine, it can be maintained. Iron has been found to be particularly useful in aquariums with macroalgae, but could also be used by the blue coral if levels are kept high enough. You can read more about this at advancedaquarist.com

We have a pink-tipped anemone at our business. I am not the one who takes care of the two tanks we have, however, I am trying to help find out what would cause it to move up the side of the tank, almost to the top. It almost looks as if it is upside down. We are not sure that there is even a problem. But if it is, then we would like to resolve it as quickly as possible. Thank you for any help that you could give us.

They move all over the place. Not an issue.

This is a very interesting coral and it is magnificent in my reef tank. It seems to be very easy to care for and it looks astonishing, it is one that I recommend for the home aquarium.

This is a weed in a well maintained reef, esp with metal halide. Not a good coral choice in my opinion. It can be nearly impossible to remove once it over grows the rock...and it will over grow. Stick with zooanthids, anthelia is ALMOST as bad. Xenia is a better choice, but it would be best to avoid all three.
