These beautiful, unusual, fish are very hardy and tough survivors in stressful situations.
That DOES NOT mean though that you may place them in a tank and forget about it.
Beautiful and great to hand-feed, Tinfoil barbs are so entertaining to watch, actually intensify their brilliant red colors as they mature while other fish usually lose their color, and are easy to care for. I currently keep three Tinfoil barbs along with four Severums cichlids and one Striped River catfish in a 55 gallon.
I got my barbs from a relative and they were only about 2-3 inches. After about a year they are at least 6 inches and are so pretty in the tank with their contrasting silver coloration.
Feed these fish variety, high quality flakes, shrimp pellets, freeze dried food and others. Tinfoil barbs are very easy to care for as long as the owner provides a decent tank size and keeps up with many water changes.
If you have a large tank of at least 55 gallons, get around three of these silver beauties. They are very worth having around in your tank.

I have 8 pink lady gouramis in a 300 gallon tank, i bought them about 5 months ago when they were about 4 inches long. now they are all about 12 inches. they tend to get along very well. they are very cool looking all together. on the other hand i also have 3 red tails and 2 white gouramis in a 240 gallon tank. they are very aggressive and have to be separated all the time. for some reason the pink ladys seem to be the peaceful and newest of the spieces.

You say that they only grow to about 6" or so i have now in my tank 2 that are about 10"-11" that ive had for about 2 12 years and are kept in a 500 gallon pond during the winter and in a 200 gallon tank in the winter

I have had two New Zealand Reds growing up. They definitly make great pets. I have tried other breeds, but none were as sweet or affectionate as the New Zealand Red!

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 18 INCH RED TAILED CATFISH. ALONG WITH MY 2 FT TIGER SHOVELNOSED CATFISH THEY HAVE DEVOURED ALL SMALLER FISH, TO INCLUDE 2 LIMA SHOVELNOSE AND 2 SMALLER TIGERS ALONG WITH THOUSANDS OF MINNOWS. OVERALL IF YOU HAVE THE TANK SIZE THEY ARE A GREAT FISH TO HAVE. IDEAL TANK MATES ARE OSCARS PACUS AND OTHER CICHLIDS THAT CANT DISAPPEAR INTO ITS BOTTOMLESS PIT. I HAVE SEVERAL OSCARS A PIKE AND 2 PACUS AND 2 MAGUANESE AND 1 RED DEIVL IN A 220 ALONG WITH THE 2 CATFISH

I just celebrated M.J., my fancy dwarf hamsters birthday. She is three months old. Before I had her, I had cats, dogs and fish. I never knew how fun it would be to raise a baby hamster. M.J. is very smart and tame. I play with her every day to make sure that she is not afraid of humans. I also make sure she gets plenty of exercise in a ball and a large, interesting cage complete with a wheel and tunnels. I think hamsters are great pets for responsible kids who do not have room for larger pets. I think you have a great website, too!

I have one of these little guys, alone in a 10 gallon, I like him alot. Hes got a great curious personality and is extremely easy to care for, and pretty to boot.
